Hello everyone, its been a few years since I have been detecting, due to my wife's health. However she is much better now and I have been out and about for about 2 weeks. I put in a fresh set of batteries and turned on my SE pro only to have it go crazy erratic. The screen was all over the place and kept setting itself on pinpoint and one loud noise. I pushed all the buttons, did the factory reset thing, but to no avail. I took out the batteries and tried again. still the same. my detector was in storage for about 2 years, with no batteries. I was about to just send it in when i thought about the coil plug. So i pulled out the shaft and the fitting was tight, but i unscrewed it and pulled the plug out..no corrosion. but just in case a took an eraser and rubbed it over the pins. put it back together and it was fixed. Just thought i would share that in case anyone else had the same problem.
Ok now to the coins. I was in an old base ball field in around the late 1900S. I was getting a few wheat cents but nothing else. A woman came by and told me her father had passed away a year ago ( he was 96) and he has an old store that he owned for 70 years, but it had been abandoned for the last 30 years. She said that they had always heard stories of her father storing coins in jars. They had cleaned the store out and found a lot of antiques but no coins. she offered to pay me to check the store for the coins. Since it was only a 1/4 mile away i said i would do it for free. well to make a long story short the coins were not in the ground but in the shower access area. I took the panel off and there it was wedged between the pipe. i searched all the walls and even the ceiling but nothing more.....as you can see it was loaded with all kinds of silver. she insisted that i take some, so i told her to pick out two of whatever she wanted and she gave me and she chose the two silver dollars. It was the best find of my life.
