Found in NH Field, New or Old ???

I found this in a New Hampshire field. Can anyone identify it?

It is heavy, about 6" long and 2" wide at its widest point.

Thanks,

Jim

It's a sickle guard used on farm equipment such as sickle mowers, combines, anything that cuts grain or hay using a sickle bar. It could be 100 years old or 1 year old, the style hasn't changed much in that amount of time. The rust doesn't look too thick so it probably has been in the ground less than 50 years.

Thanks flinthunter !!!

I find it amazing that people, you included, know this stuff !

Thanks again.

Jim
