Found in a 1940s yard

Well, I did my own research this morning and found Carhartts on the web. They are a clothing manufacturer and have been in business for 115 years. They specialize in work clothes. My grandfather was a postman and this may have been some kind of a button on one of his uniforms, since I found this in his yard. Here is their old logo:
