Found gold today!!

Got a nice 14K gold chain made in Italy today. It was wrapped around the ring(junk) :(
Also recovered 3 quarters, 3 dimes and 12 pennies and plenty of junk. Thought the GTI 1500 had corretly identified a half dollar at 6 inches, but it turned into a big piece of junk, maybe next time. The chain is 17 inches long, I don't know what it weighs yet. Keep swinging your own machines!! Kip

Chains are notoriously hard to detect. How did it ring up. How deep? That is a suprememly sweet find!

Nice find:thumbup:

It was not very deep, between 2 and 3 inches. The chain was all wrapped around the ring. It was a nickel reading, but I was not expecting the gold chain. That is always a bonus!!

If the ring wsn't there the gold chain would have given a little chirp on foil.

Man that a nice find ! Great find.::clap:

You probably picked up the ring as where chains are concerned your detector only sees one link at a time - not the whole chain.
