I went back to a local park full of trash that I didn't have much luck on a couple weeks ago, I measured out a 100ft by 100ft square across the street from a row of 1920's style houses...First I covered every inch in auto sens(only went to 19, any increase caused falsing), high trash,fast on,deep on,gain at 26...I opened up the factory program to go down to 25 ferrous...Went slow and didn't get any good hits, lots of nulling...I then ramped the sensitivity up to 23 (Etrac was screaming like a monkey on crack) but I was able to pull out a nice 1920 mercury dime(no mint mark at 4 inches) and 2 wheaties a couple inches from trash...The mercury dime had a somewhat solid signal but it hit first at 31-44 then it jumped around between 11-44, 12-44 and back down to the 30-44 range...On a side note, Andy weren't you supposed to help me with the Etrac?..I left you emails and even my phone number but no response...By the way I can't seem to find the page in your book explaining the relationship between the sensitivity setting and trashy areas..You must have noticed with all those testing hours and being the Etrac guru that increasing sensitivity in trashy areas would get more good hits closer to trash..I know it has to be there, what page is it on?

What ?????????????
Do you read the answers to your posts ,? Or even look at your PM's....................................?????????????????????????????????????????????
I follow this forum,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,and sometimes post.....................................I see you say the E-trac does not find silver...............Yet I have found 264 Wheats,,,, Two Indian Head Cents,,,2 buffalos,63 silver coins,5 silver rings,and over $60 in Clad in the last THREE MONTHS................You gotta work it Boy.......!!!!!!!!!!......................Detectect LONG hours,,,,,,,,,,,,,and Dig ..........MANY Targets...is the secret to finding good things (It helps if you can [research] and find a good site or 2 as well)........
........................Now I see you are Dissing a great detectorist and writer..........ANDY............................Did you even check the answers to your MANY negative posts.....................Much less check your PM's ????????????????????????????????
I normally don't answer to this kind of *$!_........but for this one time.......I WILL.............................................In Andy's answer to your LAST ^^*%%## POST..
He stated ............."You sent me a PM which when I replied, went unanswered even when I offered to work with you to resolve any issues you might have with the detector.
" The rest of his answer to your post (If you are Too lazy to Search for it ) Is Below.......
You took the time and spent the money to get what many consider to be one of the best detectors built to find old coins including silver. It excels in hunting trashy sites and has developed a reputation for doing so in a short period of time since it has been out.

Yet, you posted about how it failed your simulated trash test and you felt it was a waste of money. You could simply have asked for input on hunting these types of sites but instead you opted to post an extremely negative series of messages about how you had been mislead, ripped off and were dissatisfied with your purchase. Not only did you post that sentiment on this forum but on the Vision / Spectra V3 forum as well which served no purpose other than incite people on that forum. You even state that Minelab responded to your private E-mail stating they acknowledged there was a problem with the detector which in talking with them, is entirely untrue and is not a problem recognized by the company but that's a different issue. You sent me a PM which when I replied, went unanswered even when I offered to work with you to resolve any issues you might have with the detector.

Then you get another user to solve your problem . . . and you were on "cloud nine" about how your machine suddenly worked like a champ.

Now you start yet another thread about the fact that you did not find any silver and there must be a secret silver switch , , , , , maybe there is a simple explanation which is "THERE SIMPLY ARE NO SILVER COINS WHERE YOU WERE SEARCHING!" There are many sites I have hunted where I pull handfuls of copper coins and no silver . . . then again, I have been to sites that were just the opposite (not that often though). If you are finding old wheats, there should be silver there but if there is none under your coil, you find exactly that NONE!

If your machine is now working, try different sites and you will find in the areas where there is silver, the E-Trac will and does find it.

Some people really need to think twice before hitting the POST key once and Dave aka Bugalooob is one of those as this latest post attests to.

Since he had posted that Minelab had responded to his E-mail about a known problem with the E-Trac (which was new to me), I checked with them and not surprisingly, they said that they had not said anything to that affect since there was no known issue as far as they were concerned. OK, I PM'd Bugalooob and asked for information that I might see if there was some misinterpretation involved and closed by offering to help him if he wanted it.

Well, the only response I received was the following E-Mail and never did he ask for any assistance (as the message shows). In addition, with a full-time job, I am not sitting by the phone waiting to call people as soon as the contact me . . . . as many know from past interactions, I do get back as soon as I can but it might be a few days.

==========
Hi Andy, Please go back and read my response to the post about "secret silver switch" on the Etrac...With the sensitivity issue fixed it works very nicely...The letter I received from from the Minelab rep is gone because of my mother in law deleting all of my old email, I was looking all over my deleted files and trash bin trying to recover it and called AOL to see if there was some way to get it back but I can't...I'm sorry I can't provide the proof and it pisses me off because I don't lie like that...It was from the north american rep, I will find out his name.... he said that he was aware of the issue in field testing and to reset the machine to all factory settings, also he stated that people tend to over compensate the machine(whatever that means) and let him know what happens in 20 hours of hunting..You can call me at 716-474-XXXX if you want to ask any questions . .. Dave
==========

Sounds like the old school excuses . . . . "my dog ate my homework" or in this case "my mother-in-law deleted my E-mail" . . . . . and then Dave forgot who the person was that told about this inherent problem . . . . . . there's only a handful of people in Las Vegas and there names are not that hard to remember.

Yet despite not asking for help or waiting more than a few hours, Dave opts to post the message he did with his snide little side-note about how I failed to call him back as well as how I must have missed the epiphany he received about hunting in trash . . . . glad that works for him but in many areas it will not in fact work . . . and many people do not care to listen to an erratic detector hoping to catch an occasional beep from a good target but as I have said before "Use what works for you".

It's posts like the entire recent series from Bugalooob that taint the forums in terms of people being willing to share information without the attitude.

Calm down and take a chill pill dude, I responded to Andys messages as soon as saw that I had messages..I'm used to the AOL bell telling me I have messages not this findmall mail system...why are you answering for Andy?, I'm sure he can type...You seem to be of those high strung kiss up types

Dave,

McNickle was not responding for me but was making the same point I made both in the post and via E-Mail . . . . . if you want or need help ask for it but if you are expecting help by coming across as a smart-alec and talking down to people that have been active, knowledgeable and valued participants on this forum for far longer then you have, you might need to turn your computer off for a while and take one of those chill-pills yourself.

Before you start a fire-storm you might otherwise wish you hadn't, think about the content and tone of your posts BEFORE you hit the button to send them . . . . . just a word of advice for you to consider

Andy

Hey every one please calm down. Lets help each other and when it starts getting heated just back off and take a breath. This isnt worth fighting over. Bug your post are some what pointed in a negative manner and after spending 1500 id want to know all i could to get my moneys worth. But be polite about it and we will all do our best to help just as i did for you. the rest of the of us that are in the know should have a little Patience for others that are distressed and confused about ther investment. It doesnt matter how they respond if they are upset cause they cant figure it out they need our help to get them going even if the answers are already post. Some people express discontent in different ways. Some may try to say small remarks to get a response We need to see this and really understand what caused them to post something that provokes others.

Here my take. A man just spent a large some of money on something thinking it would work just like the old whites commercial said it would. But it doesnt. Now that man is upset and wants to learn but he comes in here already with a negative feeling of let down due to a product not living up to his expectation that were implanted by a company add. So he post a message hopen for help but post it wile being upset. That post is then read by others and taken very wrong and that is the only out come of the post cause of the mood the poster was in when he wrote it. It just snow balls from there and people get pissed off.

Lets be more than readers trying to solve a problem lets also place ourselves in the shoes of the person posting then we will all understand one another from the start.

Lets drop the monch IM A MAN crap and have understanding from both ends.
My kids get upset when they cant figure something out and they act out trying to ask for help. I dont punish them i try to understand why they feel that way and then i teach them what it is that they dont understand. Everyone likes diplomacy.
Example= tell me to do something and ill tell you to go to hell but ask me If i could do it for you or would i do it for you and i will probably say sure no problem.

Anyway Who found some goodies today? It flooded here so I couldnt hunt today.
