found ( DINOSAUR) while metal detecting

Well-known member
Went detecting last night and made the mistake not checking the tide movement, got there 3 hours prior to high tide. Needles to say, could not really hunt the wet sand and shallows like I really wanted. Had a pretty good time in the dry sand and shoreline. I always find all kinds of kiddie toys , but this is my first time finding a dinosaur and water plane. Did manage to find over $5.00 in clad and 2 ear rings.
I stayed till around 1:00 in the morning. I had a car pull next to me about 30 feet away and a guy from the drivers side, got out, walked over to me and started asking me all kinds of questions about my AT pro.He also asked me questions about the beach, and kept on rambling, seemed to be a little nervous which raised some flags. I was by myself, it was pitch black and I kept my distance. He finally got back into the car and they drove off. At 250, I can handle myself pretty good , but I'm always a little weary in case someone is packing some heat. This is not my first creepy encounter detecting in the late hours but it,s just too hot in the day time with 100 plus temperatures. Thinking of bringing my 2 buddies along, Smith and Wesson, as possibly a last resort, If it ever gets to that point.
HAPPY HUNTING

Congrats on your toys and money. I want call you crazy for being out that late by yourself because i know detecting can bring u into strange places, especially when the desire to hunt rules u. I'm only 160 pounds with my pockets full of change and boots on so I would feel better If I had a hunting buddy at that late hour. If I had to defend myself in that situation , I think I could out run a bullet real quick.

You can always part their hair with your scoop. I've got a hand gun carry permit for that very purpose. It takes 12 to convict you but only 6 to carry a casket. If a crackhead thinks they can over power you and steal your detector to sell for drug money they will. It's better to have protection and not need it than to need it and not have it. Most states honor your permit and this day and time if you can get one get it. I do not know 1 detectorist that would cause any trouble but we were not put on this earth to take any crap when we are minding our own business. JM2. HH :minelab:
