I found this thing at a VERY old Log building that was used as a post office in the 1800's.Does anybody have a clue what it may have been used for?

meat hook, or maybe a fireplace hook for kettles??? Possible door latch???
Interesting....

That appears to be a real primitive fish hook, if the fish did'nt bite they could throw it at the prey and knock it out:rofl: H.H. Kevin

definately not a meat hook....no way to hang the hook from a rail or overhead support. No meatcutter would be willing to try utilizing that hole with a qtr. of beef on the hook. Hooks are nasty sharp also and this one has no point at all.
What are the dimensions of this thing???
