Today I decided to use my hybrid bike for some off road searching for new homesteads. I live in a sandy area so just getting thru is a challenge in some areas.
I found one area that was bulldozed many years ago and it exposed old bottles, clam and oyster shells and pieces of ceramic. Just what you look for!!
I immediately found a "New York" copper (rotten) Indian Head and thought, boy, this is going to be nice! But, after a half hour of searching I concluded it was a dumpsite and not a former homestead.
I wanted to explore some more so I left this site with the intent of hitting it again on my return trip.
After riding around for awhile, including one over the handlebars acroabtic manuever I decided to go finish the day back at that "dump" site.
I am not 100% used to using the Excel yet, but it is great for backpacking like I did today so it fit the need. I started searching the road where I got the Indianhead and had a nice reading that I knew for sure it was a coin and a nice 42 Washington Quarter appeared, THANKYOU Mr Hunter whoever you were that lost it!
As I was walking back to the bike, I got another solid reading and the Heart Shield with wire supports was found. Unbelievable that I have found two similiar type shields within one week and never found anything like them in my previous 25 years!
I have no idea what the heart shape shield is or how old, so taking on any good guesses.
Oh Yes, the tree, How about the size of those leaves!!!
