Found another silver!!!

Pulled another silver out of the field! Registered +85 on the MXT, down only about 5 or 6". Anybody guess what denomination and year this coin would be? Hmmm...let the suspense begin!

Size and VDI indicate silver quarter... Hard to tell age without a location hint. My guess is 1886 Seated.

I found this in a "Dragoon" campsite. It turned out to be an 1840 0 Liberty seated Quarter.

KS Digger,

That appears to be a "no drapery" variety worth about $450 in EF condition. Congratulations on a very nice find.

Good hunting,

I had not noticed the "no drapery" variety. Thank you for pointing that out Olde Tymer!

Very nice find... After looking at the other stuff you pulled from the field, I almost changed my mind to an early seated quarter. The location of the date was a giveaway for a seated quarter.

How do you like the Hot Shot coil compared to the 6x10 DD or the 8" excelerator? Or have you used either one. Thanks

I use both the 12" Hotshot and the 6x10 DD. I can not over emphasis the importance of utilizing both while out in the field. The Hotshot coil is primarily used to cover lots of ground and to locate potential hot relic spots. Once an area has been located and usually it is infested with lots of square nails and old iron. I then switch to the DD coil and it is a different world when I am able to sniff around all the iron and be able to pull the old brass, silver and lead out of the ground. Simply put, if your into relic hunting like I am you have to have both size coils to be able to pull the good stuff out of the ground.
