Found another Ring (well...)

I went out again today with the Garrett 2500, I went to another local park and found another ring, but this one was chopped by the lawnmower. Oh well at least its silver.

I have some silver I would like to melt down from different things I have found over the years ie. backs of old silver pocket watches (stamped coin silver) more broken silver rings, old coins where everything is wore off. Does anyone know a way to melt this stuff without investing to much in silversmithing equipment?

Cast iron pot on your cook stove ought to do it but I wouldn't recommend it. The same kind of pot and any gas burner will melt it down.
