Found and then LOST Tough day at Beach

Had terrible luck this morning. Finally found my first real quality ring this summer, 18kt men's band, real big on my finger. Put it in my Mind Lab pouch that came with the Excaliber 2, hunted another hour. Coming off the beach to look at this beauty and she's gone! Spent another 2 hours trying to find it. Real rough today in the lake, so will go back tomorrow again to search. Lots of waves hitting me over. Almost just put it on my finger, but was too big. I hope my summer gets better. So far, little finds, and horrible luck. At least it wasn't my own ring. Des in Buffalo

Sorry about your loss Des but the good news is you have a pretty good idea where there is a gold ring to be found............

Desmond, About 2 1/2 weeks ago I was hunting a very nice beach, turned on my MD and 3 swings latter I was into a gold ring, at the end of the day I lost it. I never before lost a piece of jewelry, it was a first for me but I just let it go and moved on and thats my advice to you, you will hit again Sorry Bud

If you don't have one already, get yourself a mesh pouch with at least one zipper pocket and always take the time to put your good find in the zippered one. Sorry to hear of your loss, and I hope you get lucky and find it again - an 18K ring would be a tough one to see lost

Been there, done that, it is a terrible feeling but just remember, there are still alot of rings out there. I now put all my good finds in a zippered pouch that is that is attached to the inside of my regular pouch. Shake it off, you will soon forget about that one. HH

Yeah, I am truly sorry that happened. One of my buddies on here found a large engagement ring once and lost it in the same fashion. My advice is: get a two pocket zippered finds bag like the Pro Beach sold by Forum Sponsor Joe Demarco (here's a link) http://demarcodetectorsales.com/html/misc%20accessories/Pouches.html . When I make a good find, I put the target in the treasure pouch, zip it shut, and then check to make sure it's inside by feeling through the fabric. It sounds silly but, I have dropped several coins that I thought went into the pouch only to realize that they fell out the lip of the bag as I dropped it in you want to make sure to put your hand in the bottom of the bag and then let go. Also if it's a really good find and it's rough, throw coins and anything else of marginal value into your junk pocket. Easy enough to sort through that later... While wearing your gold. ;-p I bet you can go back and find that ring! Good Luck!

This is what I use. Try a Big Diaper or wire pin. I have my car keys on it also. Never lost a ring or my keys! Sorry for your lost after all that effert. :ranting:

Bought the Pro Beach today. Couldn't get in the water where the ring is because of high Ecol i counts. Unbelievable. Des in Buffalo
