The other day I found this weird barrel looking thing. I posted it on a forum and someone said try to open it so I did. I recorded it. I called the lady and she was speechless and I am hand delivering it to her next week

Even after all that time (30 years), I bet that struck a very 'tender cord' with the lady/owner of the dog.
We do come across some unusual finds out there and this reminded me of when I went detecting in the local mountains a few months ago, I detected 2 glass kilner jars. I thought I had hit the jackpot as this mountain range was big time gold mining in the 1800's. The jars were not filled with gold nuggets, coins or gold dust unfortunately but were filled with items and a photograph of a lady that might have passed away who knows when. I believe it was some kind of religious memorial thing and there were was no note with a name or address on and so I just reburied them and left them alone.

awesome story.......... and video

Now that is cool. I remember when I was a kid we had a dog that had one of those. Gosh... that was a long time ago. Thanks for the memory.:)

I went to the her house today and returned the item.. she was amazed. I talked to her and her husband for a good 20 minutes and her home was built in the late 50s but they tore down home from 1824. This yard was amazing huge trees and the grass you can just tell it was old. She granted me access anytime and showed me a bucket of arrow heads she found while gardening on her site. The her husband tells me the woods that is not theirs but her neighbors has body's buried there from the 1800s with no stones for them. Used to be depot there for trading aswell. Bush is thick but will do it this fall

Awesome find & video! That's so impressive you were able to return it back to the lady, you're a good person for doing that, I know a lot of older ladies in our town that have dogs and treat them like one of their children, you made her day. Thanks for sharing!

This is so cool and it looks like you found a great spot to detect. Way to go!
