I was looking for some where to MD and there it was!!!!!!! An old old farm house site. The house and barn were gone. A big chain store is building a huge warehouse[2 million sq.feet],and they have bought up a bunch of old farms! Non of it was posted. From my reasearch i know that an old rail road and a electric rail road,once ran this the farm land ! Man,i'm already digging up silver and indian head pennys[in my mind ?].
I parked at the end of the drive way,maybe 1/8 of a mile. The property is flat,as is the drive up. The drive way is a straight run in! Oh baby,i am going to need a duffle bag for all my finds[I'm thinking to myself] ?
The old barn and the house,both are leveled, were about 75 feet apart. Can you picture this place in your mind??
I got all my equipment out of my Blazer and made check of everything. Md,batteries full charged,digger is sharpe,bag for all my finds and a bootle of water.It is 85 degrees and muggy. Every now and then it rain showers,but not enough to hamper the hunt.Every thing is moist and easy digging !
The drive way is in a north to south lay out.The breeze is blowing up the drive way.
I turn and begin to heard up the drive and see big piles of fill dirt,between the old house and barn base? Wow,i'm thinking,i got here before they back filled it !Here i go,yes i am wound up ! I turn on the detector,on the way up the lane. Not watching where i am !Too busy listening for the machine to go off ! The next thing i realize,i am near the dirt piles. Recall the breeze,i had said about?????North to south,it was blowing? Well,it changed,just as i got to the side of the dirt piles. White feathers started blowing in the wind and i almost puked!!!!!!!! It was piles[about 10/ 30 ton truck loads] of CHICKEN MANURE and old!!!
RETREAT,was all that went through my mind,and i did in a big hurry ! My nose held that aroma for hours!!!!!!!
Maybe some day i will return there,but,i will look for those piles first?
