Found an Antique Duck Call!

Got out on Lake Michigan today and worked a long stretch...see that jetty in the background? I was parked @ 1/4 mile on the other side of it...[attachment 310396 Apr1-15-3.jpg]
There were no light tabs or foil, just heavy targets, old green coins, perfect conditions for my First Water Hunt of 2015!..[attachment 310397 Apr1-15-4.jpg]
Got a lot of clad targets, some sinkers, dog tag, some sort of hippy pipe...the usual..no gold or silver...4hrs...[attachment 310398 Apr1-15.jpg].

Then, boom! I saw this antique duck call! Possibly from the 1800's I figure, I scooped it up and rinsed the sand out in the lake and gave it a try, but the reed must have long ago rotted, not a peep! So home I went...[attachment 310399 Apr1-15-2.jpg]

The Wife said its not a duck call and threw it away! I asked her, "What is it then?"...She said, "dont you know?" I said, "Well, if its not a duck call, it must be some sort of fancy cigarette holder?"

She rolled her eyes and said, "You are right, but its missing the filter, I'll pick you up a full box of them when I go to the store, they have a nice cotton filter installed, individually packaged even, and a little string so you can loop it over the ear piece of your glasses, or a button on the front of your shirt, and smoke hands free!" What a great Wife! I sure am glad she clued me in...I was about ready to put it up on Ebay as a duck call! I dont like looking like a dummy if I can help it!...She said she will also pick me up some new 'Summers Eve" mouthwash, that sounds refreshing, generally I just rinse my mouth out with Bud Light and swallow...and some self adhesive absorbent 'dust masks' since they are all in the same aisle...She said those self adhesive 'dust masks' also might work good stuck over the top of my bald head under my headphones to absorb sweat too! .. .cool!...I have a great Wife!

I thought for a bit that it looked like a femine.....whatever thingy...you know right!! I thought that's what your wife was trying to tell you!! I can't help thinking when I see your icy cold pics....who even goes out to that lake to swim or frolick to loose anything? You must have some nice warm spells some time for people to even consider going out there? bbbrrrrrrrrrrrr! You deserve a medal for braving those freezing temps:thumbup:

Dag boy those are some ruff conditions! But you had a good hunt and if you get that duck call to work I think you may have something there...Good One..

Thanks guys...just got back in from another go at it...Got a Sac dollar coin..

Goldie, theres a guy up here I hunt with sometimes who has been out all Winter, 'Sturrat', He's the one that deserves the Crazy Award! ...If he can find some open water, he's in it! Unbelievable cold and a fellow shouldnt have been on the roads even...He's a MineLabber, been doing this a long time and really good at it...The east coast boys gave a good showing this Winter too! I think OBN already has a dozen golds...:clapping:

This year I have been very Wimpy...lost 1/4 of my year, so I gotta try to make up, and it will take some extreme luck and perfect conditions...things really thawed in the last 48hrs..., big flights of sandhill cranes on the move north...good cuts.. Well, Time and Gold wait for nobody, so whats a fellow to do? One big thing this Forum does is motivate! Its sort of like a campfire where all the hunters gather to share tips and inspiration..:beers:
