Found a way to run Piezos on the Sovereign.

The Sovereign doesn't have enough audio drive to run the piezos at the level I'm accustomed to so I added a step up transformer to my Sovereign water machine. The transformer has a turns ratio of about 1 to 3 with the primary being 10 ohms and the secondary being about 30 ohms. This provides more than enough audio for the piezos and will literally blow your ears off with a set of dynamic phones. Just another way to beat the system.

Looks good Mel, You done your MelMagic again.........I gone to turn that idea over to the Skullies research department.........OT you around?

Am I the only one that thinks we would have gotten to the moon a couple years sooner if Mel and OBN were on the NASA team ? :clapping:

I was on the NASA team, I worked on Apollo 9 thru 14 and it was very rewarding putting a man on the moon. Best job I ever had.

Thanks FSA, I aways go about things different then most, I would have closing NASA 40 years ago and Put the money into a Time Ripper....(Time travel)

UNBELIEVABLE, That explains everything.

If Mel and OBN were running NASA we would be Terra Farming Mars by now!

OBN, a container load of transformers are due to be shipped from Shanghai next week.

I will let you know when the supplier confirms the shipment, also I need your warehouse street address for delivery of the 15,000 units.

Mel,

What center were you working at?

I worked at Johnson for 8.5 years but that was on Space Transport System (STS) aka Space Shutttle, not the Apollo, that was before my time there.

the Kennedy Space Center. I worked in the LCC, VAB, MSS the LUT and the crawlers. We had all of the system measurements.

Mel,

Keep us up to date on your progress, very interesting development with this audio boost.

That's Funny:rofl:

And what is really funny, And I guess this is because I have used my sovereign so little..I never realized there was a problem with the piezo's and the sovereign. Like I had said, I aways go about things different then most, I made the Pel-tor screamers 4 years ago, used them on the excalibur's and the franknsovereign with no problems. They use Piezo's, but with Doc's Amp. You can tell it is the franknsovereign, coil cable inside the shaft.

and without the output transformer. This pic is the output of the Sovereign before the transformer with no target present. Scope settings are .05v/div and .5ms sweep rate. Total signal is .05 volts threshold barely audiable.

This picture is the output of the Sovereign after the transformer with no target present. .1v/div 5ms sweep rate. Total signal is .15 volts PP

This picture is the output of the Sovereign after the transformer with a quarter present. 5V/div .5ms sweep rate. 27.5 volts PP or a gain of 3

Are the pictures in the other thread from the same detector or from an Excal?

Looks like the transformer isn't working with the drive circuit to add any significant filtering, just the voltage gain directly related to the turns ratio.

If I count the grid correctly, the period gives a frequency somewhere around 450 to 500 Hz on both the threshold and the quarter response. Hmmm ... seems just a little low for a high tone. I might not be counting spot on.

We were in Huntsville, AL from 1962 to 1966 when my dad was working the Saturn V booster control system development and test. When the boosters left Marshal and headed to Cape Canaveral, we moved back north. Space program design and development work was kind of a feast and famine environment. I saw the toll it took as dad went through periods of layoff and then being begged to come back to a new effort, so I steered away from that industry segment when I started working. Kind of a shame we currently have no way to put anyone into orbit other than to bum a ride on a Russian flight.
Cheers,

Yes I know what your dad went through, I got layed off twice before moving on.

Some say that the Shuttle was a strategic mistake, we should have kept our heavy lift program and built a space station on our own to launch interstellar flights from. Now we are buying rides to get to our joint venture.

about 458 cycles.

Mel,
Freq meter matches what the scope says! :clapping: You seem to be fairly well set up with test equipment.

I had to calibrate my ear and do a back and forth listen to the Excal on a quarter and the CZ with specified low tone 200 HZ, mid tone 450 HZ and high tone 1 kHZ.

The Excal on the quarter is lower pitch than the CZ and not much higher than the CZ is on a nickle; tracks what your measurements indicate.
