Went to a local fresh water beach today and decided to use the 2F tone mode . I used no notching so all the iron sounds were allowed in, was in de, and 80-90 sens. When ever I came across a signal, I would raise the coil until the signal started getting a little weak and then try to "milk" the signal out of it by using short, slower coil movements. If I started to hear the grunting iron sound, it was almost always a bottle cap or even a pull tab or some other ferrous type metal. If I notched out iron, then I didn't get this response, I had to let all the iron sound in. When I came across a coin, it had a smoother sound and there was no grunting sound or if there was, it was because the coin was close to another piece of ferrous metal. The trick was to move the coil above the target until it started getting weak and "play" with it until I could get the grunting sound or not. Another positive trait of this mode is that there was not any high pitched falsing that I get so often when in the 3H mode. It was more quiet with less snap, crackles, and pops . I didn't miss the high coin pitch either like I thought I would. The signals were strong enough, so all I had to do was simply look down on the face plate and read the numbers, if it was in the coin range, I'd dig. Lastly, if this accompanied any iron readings in the Fe304 scale, it was always a bottle cap or other piece of ferrous metal. I hope this helps anyone that is having problems with digging bottle caps and other pieced of junk. HH
