Found a silver war nickel in the coin return of a "coinstar" machine at the grocery store today..............

It looked like one of Lorraine's Mercury dimes that she digs off of the mud flats of the beach. Couldn't read a date, it was all black and a little thinner than a nickel should be but it had an "S" mint mark over Monticello so it confirmed what I had already assumed. I've found more silver in that last week then I've found with a detector in the past 10 years. I'm like butter, baby....."I'm on a roll !"

They do take older canadian pennies because they are copper. new ones are steel with a copper coating.
