Found a pretty nice dime with the MXT......

I was hunting an old vacant lot a couple weeks ago, and found a few nice IH cents, one silver quarter and two Barber dimes. I don't like to clean off the coins in the field, (for fear of scratching a good one) and this time, I am sure glad I didn't. As part of my normal procedure, I put all the coins in a zip lock bag and marked the date, location and machine used to find them. They have been laying on my table for the past couple weeks. After hearing "when are you going to move that stuff" for the umpteenth time, I decided to rinse off the coins and put them in my safe. Here is one of the dimes that I recovered that day. According to the coin books, this one almost pays for my MXT. HH Randy

Send those photos to White's, with a brief story on how you found and, and they might give you one of those very popular $200.00 gift certificates. Nice find, bud! HH jim

Thanks for all the responses to my original post. Looks like I need to get it graded by an authorized professional. To answer some of the questions / comments.....I found this with the MXT and 4X7 Excellerator coil. It was in a vacant lot, at a depth of only about 4 inches. The coin has not been cleaned. I merely ran some cold water over it and rinsed it off. Yes, there is an old scratch on the neck of Lady Liberty. There are no new scratches. All of the letters of LIBERTY are clearly visible, as are the kernals of corn and grains of wheat on the reverse. And, I had already sent a pic and short story to Whites and they will be sending me that accessory certificate. Thanks again for all who commented. I will let you know how it grades and it's value. I will say I looked on past ebay auctions and feel very good about the prices some of these 1901 S dimes have brought. HH Randy
