Found a possible good site...

...Might never be able to go back.
A friend of my wife's is moving. They are selling their house and the land ownership will be changing hands this Friday.
I did them a favor earlier today by cutting some re-bar that was protruding from their retaining wall. The new owners were hassling them over that and several other things.
As 'payment' I asked if I could hunt their property before the new owners move in... They said "Have a blast!" There's a front and back yard (about an acre), and about 3/4ths acre of woods abutting the old Erie railroad.
I went tonight, hit the woods and the back yard... Found some neat stuff:

1968 Matchbox (Series 3 Mercedes Benz ambulance)
Two late 1930's- early 1940's die-casts (one coupe (bent up) and one 4-door (carslaw))
Some lead
30-30 shell
Two clad dimes ('67, '70) and an unreadable wheatie
Old door latch
Gerber Paraframe folding knife ($28 new :bouncy:)
Tons of canslaw... Like someone mowed a couple 12 packs of diet Coke... But I don't mind it yet... Must be a noob.

I really want to hit the whole area hard but I have to work all week. I work 10-12 hours a day, so after work is out. Might not make it back. :-(
Kinda bummed.

Lol, I'm on lunch right now and I'm thinking about it...
At least, maybe i can skip out a little early. Maybe 6:00 or so.
Should give me a couple hours before the bears start coming out of the woods.
Wish me luck!

Yeah, you're looking a little pale. Best go home and get some rest.

Well... Good news is I was able to get out at 6:15. Got to the site at about 6:30. I had an hour till dark. Being that it was dusk I decided to avoid the woods where I found the door latch and the knife because it would be too easy for a bear to sneak up on me. So I scoured the area that I found the three cars....

And found absolutely nothing but canslaw. Lots of canslaw. And several whole cans. All newer.
Then it got dark.

So I went to my yard to try to redeem the evening.
No luck. Found cans from the 60s or 70s.
And some lead. A bullet and a bar.
Bar says -EAD CO. Maybe said 'LEAD CO.'
Anyone know what it may have been for? Maybe plumbing?

So yeah. I don't think I will be going back to that house. I can't get there before 6:30. The woods will be too dark and the yard too empty.

Oh well. A bad evening MDing is better than a good evening working.

Yelp, I would call in sick to and hit it some more, lol, congrats, hank

Better yet, call in well. That's when you feel too good to put up with the daily grind and need to do something fun!!
