Found a piece of baseball history today......

I hunted at a small beach today, north of where I live.
I found this medallion/token out in the water, it was about 4-6 inches down in the hard bottom. It is a baseball token from the BR league, which I have learned was associated with, or part of the All American Girls baseball assocoation in the 40s and 50s.
You may have seen the movie "A league of their own" with Tom Hanks and Geena Davis a few years back. This is something from that time and activity. I have no idea who lost it, or how it came to be in that swimming beach. It has obviously been there for some years.
Thats what makes this hobby fun!

It could also mean "Babe Ruth" league. It is one of many different leagues like "Little League", "Dixie Youth", "Pony League", etc. It may be more recent as all of these leagues have girls fast pitch softball programs. Hopefully you did find a piece of history but it may be this instead.

The info I found said the girls all wore skirts over gym short type undergarments. The girl on the medallion has more modern looking athletic cut shorts, more like todays styles. darn. Well, thanks for the input Rick. Still a nice medallion.
