Found a Morgan

I recently bought a new detector (Whites M6) and have been devoting most of my time to it but today I thought I would get my Land Star out and take her for a walk around the yard. Now I have been over and over my yard with my Land Star in the past and It's hard to believe but I have never found one coin on my entire 3 acres. This was once a farm and I have dug lots of stuff just no coinage. I thought I would walk down the old fence rows that are long gone now and see what I could find and after about 10 feet I get a solid hit of a dollar. I just kinda wondered what it could be never guessing it would ever be a dollar and BINGO there it was about 2" deep a big ole 1900 Morgan, I did the happy dance all the way to the house to show my wife. I spent the rest of the afternoon hunting and did find a memorial cent and a bunch of trash. I have always liked my Land Star and won't get rid of it, BH makes a quality machine for the moneyin my book, the ground was moist and I was digging large targets a foot deep today.

Thanks for looking.

Kerry

for not finding coins there before thats one heck of a start happy dance for sure i keep on dancing dancing and a prance in:yikes:

You have heard of a fence post bank haven't you? Farmers would bury their money under a fence post to keep it safe and well marked. It never made sense to me, because in order to keep animals inside the fence, the fence must be tight. If you remove a fence post a few times the fence will get sloppy. You might want to take a shovel with you one day to that spot and dig a three or four foot hole and see if the detector picks up anything then.

I know alot of guys who have detected alot of years and have never found one. Congratulations on a great find!

Great find, them gotta look good when first seen in the dirt.

dave5710 Must be talking about me. LOL:laugh:

I have found some great coins but not one silver dollar.

Thats an awesome find NailBender! I agree with Dave. Post hole caches were a common place for ranchers and farmers to hide thier silver and other goodie's you may have stumbled on to something there!:bounty:
