I tried a different park yesterday, one I've never been to. It didn't start out well, wasn't even finding much clad. Finally got a high conductor signal abut 7 inches down and found the Moose fob (bigger than a half dollar) from the 1925 convention in Baltimore. Checked the Balto. Sun archives online and found out that the convention held some events at an armory and at a nearby park, but not at this park. A Moose convention was apparently a big deal in those days, judging from the news coverage. Also found a Merc, probably the shallowest silver coin I've ever found. It was one of those where you have to raise the coil just to be able to zero in on the target (I don't use pinpoint much). I was expecting the end of an aluminum can, but the Merc was only two inches down. Total hunt time was 2.5 hrs., also found 8 or 9 clad coins.
