The stone was still in its setting ( a gold plated bezel, probably a pendant). It measures 1 1/2"x 3/4"x 1/4". I dont know much about stones. Does anyone know what this might be? Ive been doing some looking online and cant find anything exactly like it. Thanks, Maria

Tourmaline

Update, I found a neighbor with an electronic scale. The stone weighs in at 9.4 grams which is .33 oz, which is aprox. 46.75 carats. According to the internet, if this is tourmaline, it is worth $25-50 per carat as a loose stone! This puts a value of $1168.00 to $2337.00. I plan on taking it to a local jeweler tomorrow to verify the type of stone it is. I tried to cut it with my pocket knife and couldnt, I also scratches some glass with it so I am hopeful it is a real stone. I will post any further info.

I am an amateur gemologist and there are many pink stones. My guess is it is a CZ, just because it was mounted in a plated setting. Rarely, if ever, will you find an expensive stone mounted in junk jewelry.

Hi, Do yourself a favor next time and DON'T scratch anything with your stone. Unless you are sure of it's hardness, you could be looking at hundreds of dollars in lost stone. I agree it's probably cubic zirconium because of its setting, specific cut and size. Good luck though.
