Took the deus lite to a old home that will be demolished this summer, wanted to see what was there real quick and come back and do a thorough hunt.I was really surprised about 15 min into a 30 min hunt when this popped out of the hole. From what I've learned it's a key date coin, and my most valuable coin so far.Cant wait to head back and see what else is there. Thanks for looking.

well done Tom....she is indeed a rare bird
mintage was only a shade less than 250,000 so you were quite lucky to stumble across this winner
hey, better to be lucky than good as they say!!
....she appears to have been quite shallow as well for such a heavy piece of silver
great find!!

Thanks,it's my 2nd walking half this year. The other one was about 5 to 6 inches deep also, yet wheats are around 8 to 9 inches on both properties I searched.Makes me wonder ..I'll take lucky over good any day.lol

I bet it had a nice "edge" to the audio! You don't quickly forget how silver quarters and halves sound...sweet coin! :clapping:

It had a real solid hit,no mistaking it.i had the wireless on and no remote,I hunt by sound so I don't know the id it had..I've noticed junk falsing has a high note but it is more of a stretched audio, not a nice ping like a coin.

wow...isn't that a bizarre thing
one would rationally deduce that the heavier coin would be pulled gravitationally deeper...
and yet when you examine the physics involved, if the half is flat versus on edge, i think the larger flatter surface would put up more resistance to the coin being pulled deeper that the lighter smaller wheatie....
something to ponder over a few adult beverages i think.....very interesting stuff

They have more surface so less sinking in the dirt..Smaller coins drop down because of heave, and separated fissures in the dirt and less drag in the area where they lay...... At least that is what I was taught. ???

Howdy Bigtom123--

Congratulations on your 1921 WL Half! That is a beautiful coin and it IS a key date in the WL series. If I dug it , my feet wouldn't touch the ground for a week! Continued success at that site and...

Happy Hunting!

Congrats on a great find! Condition looks amazing.

Dad gave me one long time ago. Not sure where it ended up. Man that is a nice coin. Dig dig dig.

Wow an amazing coin congrats! On the coin sinking i saw an article on this site that put a penny in a jar on top of soil then a half in a different jar on same type soil,Months later which do you think sank deeper?
