was in the woods and got a beep and thought i found a nice find it turned out to be a geo cash. don't know what to do with it .

On a forum for other geo hunters.. Usually if you take something ..you leave something for the next person..
Usually small not so valuable items, but still fun things to search for.. A lot of people do it using their GPS units to find the hidden geo cach

You're suppose to sign it and leave something ,and take something if you want . I found one this year that had cannabis in it . It was signed by other drug users. They would take a sample and leave a sample .

So long as it's nothing illegal just sign it, leave a token of some kind and replace it.

Kind of neat but I never really got the idea behind it. I talked to several people in the past who do it alot. The plastic alien is cool though....LOL

Put it back where you found it and place a couple of the rusty nails you found inside

ya maybe i will put it back with something in it maybe a 10.00 bill

......when Geocaching was becoming popular using a GPS.
It's super popluar now, so those people you see in the woods might be fellow treasure hunters but, looking for a modern geocache such as what you have found.
Here's the national website, and documented geocaches for Minnesota you might find your find listed.

10 dollars is too much . The one I found last year I signed my name and left an old bullet I found that day .

Heres the one with the marijuana .

Nice Gunnar! I found one last year also. I initialed the slip inside and left a wheat penny.

You just never know what you will come across while out detecting. I have found a couple but just left them in place...didn't take or leave anything nor did I sign them. Once I was hunting a wooded remote area of a large city park and three people came charging thru the brush towards me searching for a geo-cache...I thought I was about to get jumped and robbed:yikes: Ha!

I found one on posted private property that i have exclusive rights on. i have been friends with the family 45 yrs and have caught burglars and thieves on their properties and help keep poachers and pot growers off. it was found deep in thier property over the posted signs. i thought it was a drug stash at first. . ( i used to be a cop and spent 4 stints on the drug unit.) then i saw it was a geocache. it was disposed of and new signs posted. if thats their hobby- fine... they can do it-- but not on this property.

The original stasher of the Geocache should of asked for permission to bury on private property..............not sure how many land owners want unknowns tracking onto their property. It could be posted on the Geocache site that that cache was on private proprty and no longer findable.......if you knew the national website existed. I would have stuck a note in the box and left it, mounted a dummy camera just above the cache............"Smile, your on private property and we see you, please leave and do not return..."

that would have been a good idea Sven. i tried a site but was unwilling to join up on it to get in. common sense should have.. should is the word.. told them lets not do this here.
