Well-known member
Went to get the paper and brought the CMPDRY with had the disq set just past the A in all metal and after finding a rivet and a iron thing, I got a hit that would not disc out at foil and about a solid 2 " down I found what i thought may have been lead ,Cuz it was heavy but opon examination I could se it was a float copper nugget, so I air tested it and i was getting a solid dig gable signal at 2.75" and at 3 it faded kinda nice the compadre found this in the gravel road , this will be the 3rd float copper nugget this year

i have found tiny fishing line sinkers down by the river that size and even smaller with the vaq. get about 10,000 more of those nuggets and you will get a nice sum of money at the scrap yard. looks like the quarter has not been there that long. or is it just for sizing?

Frist time out with mine I found one of those and a ear ring back. this thing just amazes me

Gunnar you need to get back to that sport's field and clean house.

Dr. Gunnar,

I was not familiar with the term "float" so I needed to perform a little research. You sure do have a lot of native "coppa" on your property. Pretty cool find - J

The term “Float” is a geological term and refers to any material that has been carried by erosion away from
the location where it was originally formed. A piece of rock that slides down a hill is now “Float”.

Ya the Quarter is just for sizing, Jimmy the float copper comes via the glaciers from northern michigan & lake superior it can be as small as you see i found and all the way up to hundreds of pounders, thats what the Indians made the copper spearpoints from see picture below Tab you don't know how badd I want to get back to that sports field , I feel like a lion in a cage and someone just waged a nice steak in front of the bars, I try not to think of it , as it only torments me but i am free to dig nails on the hill go figure, and winter is approaching,

Imagine locating a 200 pounder! lol at $3.00 a pound that would be a nice some nice $$$. Bro, what specifically is holding you back from hitting the sports field? What will release you from the tiger's cage?

I do not own a Car, and unless its a special occasion i can't borrow one . and the tracker has badd breaks and is a little out of whack after i was rear ended, Good thing is my dad got 4200 for the car and that more than was paid for it , i only use the tracker for gopher trapping . if I ever get hold of a car i will make some good finds, like i used to . I remember my friend let me use his truck and i went out to hit a ball field and on the 1st swing up came a nice 14 k gold ring , I also found a silver quarter in that spot & a 1898 nickel & an gold earing , & a sterling earing , and several junk rings. I have just had my horns cut off thats all God will work all things together for Good in the end, Ice creem eaten every day is loathed, but on occasion is relished . I don't get out much but when i do its a great time .

Great find! On this car thing...

When I lived in St Cloud years ago, for 3yrs I did not have a car, a strange thing happened...there were all sorts of folks that were flying out of the Cities, who wanted somebody to drop them off and then pick them up a week later instead of parking their car all week (or more) at the airport...you might ask around and get some kind of deal like that going on? Somebody might need a ride or a driver to do this or that...I see ads on Craigslist for 'ride share' but I dont know if that would be safe or not...worth a look maybe...some folks dont like to drive, and I can see you lining up a few gigs to tote them down to the Cities for some reason in their car...you hunt all day, and pick them up at a predetermined time..?

thanks judd, St Cloud is a nice town , and has smoke awesome parks, and some nice Kaolin deposits,

We have tons of float copper around here. If one was serious about it he could probably make a living detecting it. A buddy of mines folks have a chunk in their yard that weighs about 4,000lbs. People have been trying to steal it for years. Usually high school kids as a joke nice heard.

they better have a big truck and something to lift it - I would love to get out to Michigan and find some float copper .

MNcricket, it could be one Can you post a picture,

I will try to post a pic if I can find what I did with it....it looked like a rock and my boy thought it was cool that it could be found by a metal detector. It may have been added to his "rock collection"......
