I got out from work an hour before sunset last night. I went over to the picnic grove I've been working. I was working in a really trashy area, with my 5" "hockey puck", trying to see if there were any deep goodies hiding beneath the pulltabs. I didn't find anything deep, but I did get an odd signal, that started as a Nickel, then went to Square Tab, then to Zinc, as I got closer to it. When I pinpointed it, I got a Bell Tone for a large target. I was thinking screwcap, but was really surprised, when I flipped up a little bit of dirt, and saw a .58 caliber MINIBALL just laying on the surface!

I've had a sneaky suspicion that I had found the site of the local CW "Muster" (re-enactment plus people setting up booths). Last week, I found what I believe is a snap, possible silver. Now, I have a miniball. Last year, another local hunter in the same general area had found one. I think there might be some really good stuff around, maybe buttons. Unfortunately, it's all reproductions. I do know of one area here that should have some authentic CW stuff; I just have to get on it.
