The rain finally went away late Sunday afternoon, so I snuck out to my local "Seated Park" and hit some of the areas that I've been re-working, with pretty good success. First good signal was about 8" deep and gave that XS silver sound, and since I've been over this park a number of times, I was having visions of another seated. Right at 8" I saw the back side of a Barber quarter, but something strange about this one. I saw the pieces that had been attached to make the coin into a token/pin, and when I turned it over- yikes!! Check it out! It used to be a nice, VF or so, 1892 quarter.
Not far from that spot, an iffy, but good sounding signal, real deep. I was down about 7" and my X-1 probe gave no sound at all. I thought maybe a deep nail, but I figured I'd pull out a couple more inches of soil and check again- glad I did. Once I got down to 10 inches, the probe sang like a silver bird! The next handful popped out 2 coins stuck together- you can see the green stain on the half-dime. 1850-O half dime, stuck to an 1861 Nova Scotia 1 cent. After I rechecked the holed, there was more down there. My next handful brought out a Cascaret's Good luck token, about the size of a silver dollar, but copper- it was in poor shape and wouldn't photo well, so I didn't include it.
Also grabbed 4 Indians, 1885, 1886, 1889, & 1904- all soaking.
