Found a cool silver relic today ...

This thing read 11" on the CTX. There were multiple targets on the screen but I kept on hearing that high pitched chirp in there among the iron. Started digging and pulled 2 HUGE nails out of hole at about 6" and 9". Re-scanned the hole and was now reading a solid 12-46 at 11" deep. About 10 minutes of digging later I popped out this silver bezel. My pinpointing ended up being off a few inches on the bezel. I believe this was due to the multiple targets in the hole.

Definitely the deepest item I have ever dug. It weighs about 7.1 grams, slightly more than a silver quarter. The quarter is included in the pic for size reference only.

I re-scanned the hole after recovering the bezel and could not locate what may have been inside. I found this relic about 10 feet from where I pulled the vlipped large cent.

I assume it's too big for the large cent to fit into ?
May have held some kind of commerative coin. Or it never had the coin put in and was lost before it was filled ? shrug.
Still cool to find.

I thiunk the front face is missing and if I had to guess, I'd say it held a magnifying glass that a woman would wear around her neck in the 1800's. Kind of like a status symbol

Nice !

I would go back and start fanning out in a circle around the hole it came out of. It's gotta be there !!!:detecting:
