Found 1880 Indian at 8 in down 6 inch coil

Found an 1880 Indian at 8 inches down with a large nail under it. Using the 6 inch coil, rang up 28 good signal.

Strange TID for an IH cent.
Out of all the IH cents I have found, they read anywhere from 16-21.
Maybe the nail skewed the reading or possibly there is another coin that you missed that’s still in the hole. To be safe, I’d double check that hole. Congrats on IH cent !!

have quite a few IH but first for that date. it Actually looks better than above. Rubbed a little olive oil and it really popped

That 6" coil is the deepest small coil I have ever used and I used a lot of small coil
I have favored small coils for years and this one is the lick. Bar none
