Well, Thanks to Tony and Scully for all the help I do believe I am on my way to happiness with this machine (Tejon).
The forth trip was to the same 50 acres we hunted on halloween and I finally beat other machines. The two other machines were both Minelab Exploers (S and the XS).
Like a fool, I used my White's XLT in the morning and did not have much luck at all and found myself playing check up form the start. Well, after lunch I brought out the Tejon and was on a mission to win this time.
In the four hours we hunted after lunch I pulled in 13 minnies. I dug one that was 10" plus inches and had one of my friends come over to measure for the record. What was funny is that the Minelab XS could not even pick up the bullet in the bottom of the open hole, while the Tejon sang like bird! He could not beleive his eyes or his machine. My friend said and I quote, "I guess I am just picking up the shallow bullets and you will be cherry picking everything from 2" to 12"." With a big smile, I said "yeap, the game is changing."
I also pulled a 1970 brass dog tag at 9" plus. The Minelab got a broken sound and he walked away. I went over to the spot and the Tejon sang again. I called him over and told him to dig the target but he said no, it sounds like junk so I dug it with his consent. Out popped the quarter size brass (I thought at first I had an ID badge) after a small cleaning it read, "Virginia" (I got real happy) then I saw "Male Dog" in tiny letters along the bottom.
The total for the day:
Tejon: 13 minnies, some small brass items not yet cleaned, 2 dimes and 2 pennies (coins are modern)
Minelab S: 9 minnies and one Borman fuse, that was sweet!
Minelab XS: 11 minnies, the rest junk!
Well, my grade for the Tejon today has gone up. I give it a "B." The weight is still my favorite thing abouth this machine. The depth was excellant today, the ground conditions were just right slightly damp and that always helps. The weather was sunny and 78 degrees! Is it really November? If you have been following my stories (4 total) my grade has gone from a D to a B in four trips. My total minnies in two trips with the Tejon is 29. Not bad at all! I will try to get my wife to take a digital picture of my finds so I can post. It is her camera and I do not know how or even want to use "her" camera.
Thanks for viewing and I will get the pictures and a new hunting trip in around November 20th. Stay safe and HH!
