Fort Erie Beach Canada

Anybody on the forum try detecting this area? Incredible history, 1885 to 1930, and then closed. Had a casino, the world's largest dance floor, and world's largest outdoor swimming pool.

And played in the ruins since 1966, which the place no longer resembles since the renovations and finally the Prov. turned back into a park.
The fishing was great during that period off the piers, smallmouth bass like you never seen besides all the other types of fish.
Man could we make noise throwing firecrackers into the old dance hall.........which was eventually demolished and too dangerous, they were afraid
of anyone playing there would get hurt.

At one end was also the War of 1812 site of Snake Hill, we used to find musketballs and such in that general area, where they dug up the War of 1812
soldier burials.http://www.dundurn.com/books/death_snake_hill

As for Erie Beach, back in the 1970's - 80's found lots of old coins were found in the park grounds from the 1800's on up.
I also found several old bottle dumps that produced old bottles from the 1880's to about 1930. I used to work with some oldsters that used to go to the park when they were younger to enjoy the rides and such. Other relic hunter used to go in there and dig pits looking for Indian relics, which they found. Had one great spot over there when they were starting to put in new streets with houses that was producing lots of musketballs and coins but, was kicked out by the lands new owner and the police. Tried to ignore them being 200 feet away from them across a muddy stretch with headphones on. Only worked for a little while untill I looked up at them.

Hate to burst your bubble....You can figure everyone with a metal detector from the Buffalo club as well as the Canadian club has been there millions of times. But, hey you never know you may still find something. The soil is the best to dig, so easy, sand and dirt mix.Good luck going over there. I don't think you get a giant rush of folks heading over there in hopes of treasure, this amusement site has been known and written about for 10's of years................and then there's the War of 1812 battle site less than 5 minutes away about a mile behind the Fort that has been hunted since the 1970's but still gives a token relic every now and then.......there's an huge subdivision built on most of the land now, you had to be there when they first bulldozed. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Siege_of_Fort_Erie

Good luck, happy hunting
