Fors CoRe or Relic stand ?

I find my CoRe tends to fall on its side a lot on uneven terrain when I set it down to kneel and dig. I also think it's a little too low on the ground. Is there a stand available somewhere that could lift it up somewhat and give it added stability (widen its base) ? I think there is one available for the Impact but I have seen nothing for the CoRe or Relic. At worst I will probably try to make one myself.

I hope somebody at Nokta will see this. I love the form factor of these machines but the base could use some added width.

fold-up stand that is made for the Makro Racer series. These stands were designed after the Impact was introduced with it's fold-away stand but it is different. The stand for the Impact has a uniquely-shaped mounting bracket to match the contour of the triangular shaped rod design.

For the round-rod Racer series, the stand has a round-shaped bracket piece. Now, I don't have the Racer series stand so I haven't tried to fit it on any of my Nokta FORS series devices, but a quick glance at a couple of my units that are here in the den would suggest the mount would have to be located just behind or just in-front of the hand-grip. I am not sure how well it would work, or how the whole unit would balance based upon the stand's location on the rod, but it might be worth the investment.

Personally, I haven't had any of my CoRe or Relic units fall over more than twice in over 2½ years of avidly using them afield in a wide variety of locations and ground texture. I just take care when I set my detectors down so that they are stable to begin with. If you, or any reader, gets the Makro Racer stand and mounts it to a CoRe or Relic, I hope to see a report with the results.

Thanks for the info Monte. I have seen a few stands that mount onto the main rod (either round or triangular like the Impact). I don't think that would work on the CoRe or Relic box. The ideal place would be right under the box either in the middle or just up front under the front of the display. I'll try to see what I can come up with. I like the way the detector is made but I find the more traditional lower arm cuff contraptions to be more stable (F5, F19, etc.)

On even ground it's not much of a problem. On hilly terrain, the box is quite tall and not very wide so it has a tendency to want to fall on its side. Putting the box slightly higher would also negate the need for a dust/rain cover IMHO. In tall grass, when I rest the detector on the ground, the dew can reach the headphone jack in the back and the GB auto tracking switch in front.

Anyway, I just wanted to see if anything was out there.

as I mentioned, I don't have one of the round-mount stands to try out.

I have a set of environmental covers on each of my FORS series models because I pamper all of my detectors, plus I usually am Relic Hunting older sites that are, or can be, dusty, muddy, damp/wet or have stiff brush or building rubble that could scratch my units. Few of places I work have a flat and smooth terrain with most of them sloped, hilly, plowed or otherwise uneven. I usually kneel down with my detector in-hand and recover a target w/o setting the detector down. That's probably about 60%-70% of the time.

When I do set the device down, it only takes a moment to get it aligned or balanced and I seldom have one tip over. If you come across some sort of stand that seems to work, be sure to post that info for users to consider.

My Relic falls over two, but usually when it's on taller grass. I don't worry about it in the grass, and it almost 100% of the time falls away from me, on the battery cover side. Don't think it will hurt anything, although if the grass is wet, I try to take something to set it on....
