Forgot to post this other pin.

I found this pin a week ago. It's a Field & Stream fishing award pin and on the back it says 6lbs 20oz. Does anyone have any clues on this pin? Thanks and HH.

Eddie

Thanks Mike. I did look up that pin and it was won for a fish caught and called a Weakfish. Never heard of it before as they are found on the east coast. Kind of weird how a pin like that ended up out here on the west coast. HH.

Certain species of fish and wildlife that met a minimum requirement would qualify one for a badge.
If you mailed a picture with the details to F&S, they would send you a pin of that specie.
I got one for a whitetail deer in 1966. I think they issued them into the early seventies.

Hey Eddie, great find - congrats! and there are actually two types of Weakfish, one in the Gulf and the other in the Atlantic. The Gulf one is the very well known "Speckled Trout" of salt-water fishing fame. They are not even commonly known by the Weakfish name here - but that is their proper name, same as Cobia here is a Lemon Fish on the Atlantic side.

Cool find to me for sure, as I am also a Avid Fisherman, which most of us here on the Coast (Pensacola, Florida) are anyways of course!

Keep Wide Eyed and Wide Open.

Thanks Krusty and for the information on east coast fish. I have never heard of a Weakfish before. I use to be an avid salmon fisherman, but gave it up years ago. It got so bad that it wasn't worth the cost of going out and if you figured out the cost per pound, it was cheaper to just buy fish at the market. Thanks again and HH and fishing also.....:)
