We kind of aren't supposed to do 'comparisons' as such, but to me it is an open opinion Forum like mine so I'll go ahead and express my 'opinions' about the Makro Racer series and others.

For lake hunting and old home sites, camp sites.what is the pros and cons.i am getting one soon, how would the racers stack up to the Aka sorex pro ,just like to get some opinions before I make a final move, wish the impact was out for comparison.

The dues comparison, racer 2 racer gold ,Sorex seems I am missing one.
I have been detecting, avidly, for over five decades, and since may of '69 I have concentrated most of my efforts on Relic Hunting old homesites, rural homesteads, pioneer and military encampments, stage stops and railroad depot locations, ghost towns, old resort and recreation sites, etc., etc.

Most places have a lot of iron nails, and at times other sheet iron challenges (rusty tin and the like) mixed in with the non-ferrous debris. I want/need detectors than can handle those conditions, balance well, be very function and provide performance, but at the same time be simple so as to remove any complexity or aa lot of on-site adjustment tinkering.

I do not like the idea or care for any detector that requires me to charge batteries in a headset, control housing and search coil.

I also do not care for detectors that are awkward and poorly balanced or heavy.

I won't keep a detect6or in my personal arsenal if it doesn't have a decent size smaller-than-stock search coil, and also performs well with it in dense iron trash.

I do prefer to do business with a company that is on top of their build quality and also keeps involved with their consumer base.

That said, and as you will note below in my Signature, my primary carry detectors are the Nokta FORS Relic & CoRe and the Makro Racer 2.

For 'specialty' work I also have my Nokta Gold + and Makro Gold Racer. Both of these detectors are capable of being used in most any site environment I like to search, urban or rural, but the Gold Racer is really more of a special grab unit for Gold Nugget Hunting and, at times, for some Urban Coin & Jewelry Hunting because it is hot on lower-conductive targets like gold rings, pendants and wrist and neck chains.

The Racer 2 really has the advantage for most all-purpose detecting of the two because it features a processed 3-Tone search mode and some other adjustment features the Gold Racer lacks. Also, the operating frequency difference gives an 'edge' to the Racer 2 for more all-around detecting as well as going after higher-conductive targets like copper and silver coins. So just pick the best of the two for the places you hunt and things you're after, and if you want better versatility in your arsenal just add the other model.

I've already done my evaluating and decision making and am quite comfortable with my regular working detector battery.
