Foreign coins

I dug this today and honestly, I had no idea if coin or token. It took me awhile to finally identify it as a Japanese coin. I thought if was Chinese but just didnt match (Chinese has 4 digits for the year, this one only has 2). Then I got directed to Korean but that didnt match either. Finally I found an exact match as Japanese.
Anyone have experience in why a 42 on the front means 1967? I see in my research other coins with different two digit numbers but also indicate 1967.
Anyone????????

Tried to load screen shot and unable. It states Japanese 100 coin. Year 42. 1967.

Hopefully web page comes thru

Ok, may have answered my own question!

Looks like the coin was minted in 1968. The 42 stands for the 42nd year in power for Emperor Hirohito, who started his reign in 1926. Thus 1926 plus his 42nd year equals 1968. This is a new wrinkle for my brain.
No idea why 1967 is listed in several sites with no explanation included.

Neat find!

Yes very cool find.
Great investigation and info.
Interesting a dictator centers coinage years around himself.
