We were at a neighboring town detecting and I came across this 1943 Australian penny. Too bad it wasn't a large cent. I'm still trying to find my 1st. large cent. Maybe one of these days it will happen.

Nice , too bad our coins have got so junky. I just found a diez peso coin and it cleaned up perfect, not like zincs. Check out this coin. Rob

I love finding foreign coins, here's one I found with my MXT it's an 1867 10 centesimi Italian coin and cleaned up really nice. HH

Here's another. Makes you wonder. Rob

Must've been from a service man. Lots of the old coots, like my Uncle who was career Navy prior to WWll would happen to be in port, get coins, drill holes in them and make necklaces. Couple months ago, I found a 20 pence coin the size of a dime from Hong Kong in a park, 1999, the year the lease ran out with the English and the Chineese govnt. took it back. Few weeks ago, I found a Franc and a 1000 Dong Vietnameese coin. Was dissapointed in the Franc because I couldn't find the bun and the critical mustard! mike

Hopefully you'll find that "bun and that critical mustard" soon. That does make sense about the service men. I hadn't thought of that. Thanks!

Another Idea where it could have come from was back in the 90s McDonald's would give a foreign coin away with some of the meal deals they had. I still get a few in at my Bar and Cafe in rolls or quarters and dimes.

This coin is the size of a U.S. half dollar. It was pretty deep, so I can't see it being from McDonald's.
