Dan - I used the 65 for about 8 years before getting my 66 another 7-8 years ago. The sens knob pushes in for max on the 66 and pulls out for max on the 65. This is good as I was always going along not knowing something had bumped the knob and pushed it in.

Other than that I just feel the 66 has more depth, better pinpointing & all around better performance. It's my main machine, backed up now by my 1280 in reserve.

One other thing - since I started running the disc 1 at about 3, my gold total has shot way up. I dig a lot of junk but the nickels and jewelry show up a lot. Got 2 gold rings last weekend, one with diamonds. Good luck, Steve in so az

I have been using the 1265x for many years and its still my #1 machine, my second is the original Silver Sabre from tesoro, both still finding silver in old worked out places. The only difference that i know about is the sensitiveity knobs are the opposite , on my 1265x you pull out the knob and turn to the higher sen. setting ,on the 1266x high sen. the knob is in and if it chirpsand you can't get rid of it you pull the knob out for lower sen. i always use the highest sen. i can get. if it chirps or is erratic Iturn the knob down, very rarely do i use low sen. Just bought the 10.5 coil for the 1265z. Doing great at the old worked out places. Got the info straight from the Fisher tech. Hope it helps...
