Where does it seem to hit at the most? Foil ??? Numbers??? Does it lock on bounce around like foil/pulltabs usually do? Any and all descriptive info would be greatly appreciated!!
Thanks guys!!

Using the same principles which worked very well for me using the Scorpion, which also shares the same operating frequency of the AT Pro at 15kHz, my suggestion goes something like this:

Hunt where (jewellery) gold is more likely to be found ie water both out and in, sports fields parks.......

Both the AT Pro & the Scorpion act like they have been tweaked for gold. They are both very sensitive to gold objects, even more so if they are holed like a ring, washer and unfortunately a beaver tail pull tab. So, I always pay close attention to strong signalsthen raise the coil to estimate the targets size. (coin sized objects fade out at about12 inches). Next, I just simply dig it. Targets such as coins and coin sized objects just don't bang as hard. You have to learn these sounds, and it takes time too.

Next, use the toe of the coil to pinpoint. By sliding the coil backwards with the pinpoint button pushed listen for the audio cut off. Depending how fast it suddenly stops and intensity will give a hint to its size, conductivity and depth. Then, use the Pro Pointer to find exactly where the target is, and dig it. Pinpointing off the toe gives more precise pinpointing, which saves time, which allows you to dig even more potential targets. There is no easy way to get just gold. You will dig a lot of pulltabs, but you will also get the gold......Good luck!:detecting:

The three small gold targets I recovered were all in the low 40's I believe 41 to 44 This is the same place foil lives. But I could tell "some" of the foil by the chopped audio.

Excellent information guys

The 4 gold rings I found came in, in the 40's. All but one were broken signals, not real choppy, but not solid either.

with lots of copper will read higher, but for the most part, just like everyone has mentions..............40's...............why do u think garrett stopped the iron disc. at 40.........they did not get off the pickle boat last week.

right in there with the old pull tab nickel............nothing ever changes along these lines.

good luck

Found a 10k white gold band not long ago, it came in in the low 40's....41 really, and stayed there....was not deep 2 inches. I did raise the coil to see if it was yet another pull tab and up to 10 inches or better it still read strong...I'm just learning this machine and am not nearly good enough to distinguish the difference between pull tabs and nickels or gold. But by the looks of others post that are a lot more experienced than I, they can't either..lol

I guess if your not digging those low 40's pull-tab type signals you could be missing a ring. If a detector company ever comes out with a detector that differentiate between pull tabs and nickles or at the very least pin point's pull tabs with certain "pull tab only" accuracy I guess they would be king...:bouncy:

Bart, if your talking to me no not at all....

In my post (can't edit now) I meant to say 45 not 41 my ring came in at 45 solid signal...anyways, moral of the story gold lives where pop tab's do on the VDI meter...LOL

Snide,
You better check that ring again ....Wiith a 45 number and no signs of corrosion , that ring is probably white gold !!.....Jim

Jim that is what it was, pardon my ignorance in the video I'm sorta new to the hobby (I guess that shows in the video..lol) but after I cleaned it up you can clearly see the 10K stamped inside of the ring. So after further inspection, it was in fact a 10K white gold wedding band. I suspect it was a man's ring, I'm a pretty big fella and I can almost get it all the way on my ring finger.

Thanks for posting the video on your website Bart!! Also thanks for watching the video folks!! Can't wait to get out tomorrow once again with the Pro it will sorta be hard to leave the camera at home from here on out...:)

Your welcome! You made a darn good video representing how good the AT pro is. I would love to post another video like that one if you make it! Thanks again for the video!! :garrett::clap:
