Now they have been out for a while I was wandering what people had to say about them?? How they work, what they like/dislike, they easy to use in dry ground.. Thinking of buying one. Just wanted to know what you good people had to say about them??
Thanks. Derrelld

I really love mine. it works good in dry ground as you can really put pressure on it. I would not use it on a well manicured lawn that someone is picky about, but for other purposes I think it is wonderful, and well built.

Surely moves a lot of dirt and can dig deep plug quickly....Not going to break this baby but would recommend it for those out of the way places and not your local park or your neighbors lawn.
Its quite heavy is the only negative aspect I can see about it...

I still use a standard digger for super dry ground or rocky ground.

It just tears the snot out of my hands trying to force the raptor down into crusty or rocky ground.

I do still use it in parks on moist ground and you can dig a nice 3 sided, hinged plug if need be...so once you're done...it looks neat.

On super dry ground I sometimes won't even hunt though because I don't want to damage the turf.

Some hunts I even carry a gallon of water in the car and use it to repair the plugs.

To answer your question though...it's the best heavy duty digger I have ever used.

Unbelievable prying power to work with.

Thanks Everyone! Im going to order one today, What else am I going to spend my money on :) I really appreciate your comments

Ordered one from Gary at predator tools this morning. I called at like 7 am just to see what the hours were on the answering machine. 5 minutes later he was calling me back... super nice guy

I use the little eagle shovel by predator tools and its amazing. Perfect size and can use in almost any situation. It fits easily into my pack too. Cuts nice plugs and is indestructible, I've smashed bricks with it and havent nicked the blade. I wouldn't bring it out if I'm hunting a public lawn or anything (kinda menacing), I just use my planter buddy in those situations (lowes for around 15 bucks). The little eagle is great in rocky soil, like in the woods by cellar holes. It has some nice heft too if you are trying to dig hard pack on old roads, a hand trowel is inefficient in these situations and I personally only use mine to cut sod plugs when i don't feel comfortable using the shovel and in odd sittuation when I need to do some gentle digging in the woods. I think both a hand trowel and a strong shovel are both essentials though, the little eagle is a great choice as its easy to carry around and still functions like a full size shovel. No matter what predator tool you get, those things are hand made in the US, and are built to last generations of use... you just can't go wrong. Hell you can use it for 3 years then sell it for like 75% of what you paid...

You won't be sorry! I have been having mine for 10 years and I love it!:)

I love the raptor its wide at the bottom much less of chance of of hitting a coin when diging it out of the side of the hole.

I have never hit a coin yet with the raptor, i own two shovles, and three hand digers from predator thay are the best....

Bryce turned me onto the raptor a couple of years ago and I love it. If the ground is too hard though...I still use the regular digger.
The Raptor allows for some excellent force to be applied when digging the tougher plugs.
