For those of you who do not understand frequency in relationship to target conductivity and detector choice...........

Silver is one of the highest conductive metals known to man. If your looking for deep silver coins why would you want to use any machine at 15khz? Small
gold, lead, and brass are low conductive metal. 15 khz is a great freq. to find this type of target so jewelry and relic hunters will do fine.
Tone id is a personal preference. So I would demo a detector first from your dealer before you take the plunge. In heavy iron rubbish some tone id units can confuse instead of help. I use a two tone setting . Low grunt from iron and a higher tone for all other targets. And by the way how much mineral is in your soil? Cold or hot rocks? Don't know? Shame on you. To pick the right detector you have to know the ground you hunt. Change your oem headphone to your favorite pair? You may have just changed the way targets sound on your new unit.
Just because you think a detector might be what your after it may not work under your conditions or to your hearing. So DEMOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO first. And have a smaller coil for the really bad iron sites. You will be glad you did.

It appears with this new AT Pro you have several options which should help with most types of hunting. I will know soon enough if I made the right choice. Hope you find out soon for yourself. And remember if it did not work for you its not the detectors fault.

Good Advice. Most detectors have their own special tone or tones and once a persons ears get trained to those particular sounds it is hard to pick up any detector and do well with it or at least it is for me. Still great advice! HH

I understand frequency quite well. The chosen frequency is only part of the whole package. Circuits can be tweaked to compensate. Your frequency scenario comes up often.......heard it many times. :)

A metal detector is just a tool. Many people place way to much importance on the detector rather than becoming an expert at using one. I like to think that I can pick up most any brand name detector and do well with it. I think someone like John-Edmonton could probably swing a wet noodle and still find rings :)

the more frequently you hunt, the better you'll get.

And I hope that detectorguru is Demo'ing that detector in case it doesn't work out. :poke: Just kidding.

Best of luck out there.
