introduce you to the art of "twitching" which will greatly improve your finds. Using the 250 as an example - like most modern detectors the 250 is a motion machine and the faster you whip the coil the deeper it goes and the better it discriminates. When you encounter an iffy target, broken signal, or one-way signal - don't pass it up. Just center the coil over the target and whip the coil rapidly two to three inches side to side. Most often this will turn that junk signal into a good signal and a find.

Great advise...

Not meaning to hijack this thread....just adding a hint to Ace 250 users.
Today (by accident, I will admit) while trying to find an elusive, iffy signal I switched over to Jewlrey mode and the machine quickly put me right over the target.
Not sure why this happens but it became apparent that when searching to zero in on broken, iffy signals this is now my "go to" method until I can utilize my pinpointer.

I have been detecting since the mid 80's and have used this technique with every detector I have owned. It works well and I also pinpoint the same way.
