This is a quality instrument built like a tank. I've been field testing the proto and the production model for some time now and it's a real dandy. There is a review and field test over on the Garrett Forum if you'd like to take a peek. Here's a pic of the Pro-Pointer and a lucky find I made using it in some bark chips. Thanks for looking.

Looks great, but for in between the rocks on the beaches over here I would prefer tip detection only, if a coin is stuck in a crevice it could be 2" either side of the probe tip.

I really need a probe, but tip only, and not one that's hooked up to the machine, any ideas?????

Great probe with one small? problem, it's designated water resistant (DO NOT SUBMERGE!!!) --not water proof! The issue of tip sensitivity is another consideration in some hunting situations too!

You can submerge the wand up to just below the speaker. It can be used in the rain and washed off under running water. I've been thinking about putting a piece of waterproof tape over the speaker and dunking it and see how it does. It is extremely sensitive and will pick up a dime on edge at one inch or so.

This one doesn't hook up to anything - like the Sun Ray that I tested. You can get around tip sensitive only with this one. Just stick it in the hole or crevice and when you get a signal pull it out slowly until the signal just quits. THhs will give you the elevation of the target, then angle the PP and spiral the tip around in the hole or crevice until you receive the loudest signal and you have your target, The signal on this one grows in intensity the nearer to the target you get.
