I know this post doesn't belong here and I am going to get alot of grief over it but I have been a member here along time and have swung Tesoro detectors for many years & have learned that all you Tesoro's forum members are good honest understanding people. Well here goes-

I know rules are rules but c'mon, I posted a detector for sale some time ago before my 3 month waiting period. It didn't take very long to get a very nasty unprofessional pm from well I won't mention any names so lets just call him Fred. Not the first nasty pm I have received over the years either. I believe that posted wanted to buy/detectors for sale is a good thing, especially in todays poor economy. I don't beleive that it affects dealers sales at all, matter of fact probably helps them sell more accessories. I like probably most other members will check with the dealers they do business with first on their inventory before buying from a forum member. I have yet to hear or read any dealer complain about forums sales. Most dealers are in it for the hobby and to help such as I am and a sale is just a plus because most dealers have a regular job.

Like I say I this is probably not a good idea for me to post this but I have talked with many members and they to had the same kind of experiences with the mods. One that really stands out is a fella that had two accessories for sale, a coil and a digger or something like that, they didn't sell in a week so he reposted them and he got the nasty pm and was banned.

I do like this forum (Finds) and the members but I am banned from being on the Classified section and have been for quite some time so if I get banned from all the Finds sections so be it there are other forums that I belong to and am well respected from the members and many dealers from all over the country. I hope that the mods. take into consideration that maybe they should think about the rules being a bit too strict and the way some of them treat the members, because without members there would be no forums.

There got that off my mind, been building up for along time. I know some of you will think that I am wrong and others will say good on you Steve. I know this post will be deleted at the blink of an eye but hope some of you get to read it before it gets pulled. Thanks! Steve.

Yes, but I like most people don't jot down everything we do and when we do it on a calendar. Steve.

Hi Steve,
I agree with you 100%... Been on here a long time and met a lot of good people...
I posted an item for trade a year or so ago, and I didn't trade it... Then posted it for
sale a few weeks later and got a very unprofessional e-mail.. "Still have it saved"....

And I will be the first to say.. My e-mail back to him was "very unprofessional as well".....
So needlessly to say, I do all my buying and trading on another forum now... Still come here
to do a lot of chatting and reading... Great place to learn and help others with our great hobby...

Happy Hunting Steve.... Jeff

I had sent an e-mail to the admin/moderator asking if I could post more than 1 detector and they wrote back no problem. I never got around to posting them on the classifieds since I ended up wanting to utilize them for the Summer. After Summer, I am going to write and ask again and I am sure they will say the same thing.

I think a lot of times the admins/moderators are trying to make sure there aren't people who register on day one and post 10 detectors for sale day 2 and then burn forum members that have been here for years. I for one have never been burned by anyone here, and there must be a better way to weed out the bad apples.

I am sure if we asked all the forum members what rules should apply, we would get a million different answers, so sometimes it's better to let the higher ups make em and live by them. If they have a policy where you should ask first and possibly the rule can be bent due to the asking, then I am fine with that.

I can see your point, SkiWhiz.

But.............as a moderator myself ( for a smaller site but with open discussions), the job is not all that easy. There are many things moderators do behind the scenes, like remove spam you never wind up seeing due to good and fast moderating.

With that said, there are those moderators that are by the book and some that "let things slide". But if someone on here see's the rules being broken, they not only may tell a mod, but wonder why the moderator who let it slide do so. Then they think they are helping out their "buddies".

Rules are rules and mods are selected to enforce them. I will agree that mods should warn or inform professionally and there are those that use the "power play".that can come across aggressive and nasty in nature. This is a large forum, so I am not surprised.

Also, there is a Feedback Forum here, and that is where this should have been posted. Mods don't like it when you place complaints throughout the site.

Personally, I think this site is better than others I have seen that can be heavily moderated.

Good post Dan, I was not complaining just saying my feelings. Yes this is a good forum, better than the rest, I don't think so. I am sure that the mods do more than most people know about and I appreciate that. Just so much going on in my life at this time - poor economy (I am going through banruptcy) loosing my car, 4 wheeler, etc., my 5 year old son has had to go through ultra sound tests, xrays, blood tests & tomorrow going to see a urologist, trying to get the haying done (I am a dairy farmer) and all it has been doing is raining all summer, among other things. Not wanting sympathy or making excuses just stating the facts. And then have a few minutes to spend on the computer to read all about the hobby I love and not being able to buy or sell on the classified section & made feel like a criminal for posting a detector for sale too often. Oh well I am done posting anymore on this subject and apologise to any it has bothered. Steve.

Sorry to hear about your demise and all I can do is offer my prayers to you and your family. I hope your doctors visit goes good. If I was in upstate NY, I'd come by and help ya out.

Don't let cyberspace get to you. The real world comes first.

Same thing happened to me. Dumb and happy I posted two detectors for sale one right after the other. It was so blatant that I couldn't have been trying to disregard the 'rules' and sneak something by the moderator. Probelm was I didn't read the rules. He just pulled my posts. I thought. Opps a glitch. They got pulled again. Then I got the nasty gram that I had broken a rule. I apologized for my error but got another nasty gram that I should have known. I then got nasty and said some things I felt about the whole transaction and too got banned. However, the posting rules got moved from the small print at the beginning of the forum and were put as a sticky as the very first item to read. I might have read that had it been there earlier. Some month later I asked if I had served my sentence and was allowed to post their again. You are correct. There are other forums and I merely sold them there. Jim

I have not served my three month probation yet.
So I have posted my wants and for sales on the other forums.
No big deal ... this is their house and they make the rules ... so I will follow them as best this dumb old fart can.
I also broke the rule thru ignorance a few days ago but now I know so everything is cool.
I still enjoy reading them and will buy something if I fancy it.

I have seen some of your posts SkiWhiz and almost had a deal with you.
You are an OK guy and I understand your frustration here.
Just sit tight and before long we both will get selling privileges here.

this is the second time recently ..... i've read a lengthy thred in reguards to the forum rules on selling items....rules are rules.... but i'm not happy to hear that Nasty p.m.'s are being sent.... that isn't the correct way to deal with any situation.... and it causes hard feeling amongst user's.... who do chat on other forums.... and talk on the phone..... outside this forum.......
i'm not bucking the sytem..... or condeming the rules..... but it might be time to tweak them.... or the consiquences.....
we want the forum to be welcome to all..... with a good reputation..... and no bitterness.....

take the time to read the rules before you post a sale:thumbup:

It might be just me but I would think that a Classified section would want all the buying/selling it can get. I don't really think that the dealers even the one's that sponsor the forum minds if a person sells more than one detector or a detecting item in a 3 moth period, correct me if I am wrong dealers. Yes rules are rules & I will follow them. Hmm guess that I lied, I said I wasn't going to say any more on this subject,oh well. I think that everyone sees where I am comming from, we need rules but maybe they need to be loosened up a bit. Steve.

but it was the sponsors that requested the rules we now have on the forum classified pages. In fact they want us to do away completely with private posting of detector sales. So let's not jump to conclusions by saying the sponsors would want it the other way.

It has been a on going thing between the sponsors & Finds as to continuing to allow individuals to post their detectors for sale here. Finds wanted to continue to be able to allow it. Come on now, the average guy selling his detector doesn't need to sell 2 or 3 at a time, or one after another. The problem came from the power sellers abusing the system. If you want to buy, try & sell a lot of units, your not going to be able to do it here, sorry.

Ya got me Freddie, my bubble has been bursted. I did not know that the dealers didn't want us members posting detectors for sale. Oh well all is well, I will follow the rules, I will keep a seperate calendar to keep track if I have to, I am forgetful. Please let me know when my sentence is over. Thanks! Steve.

Skiwhiz, I un-blocked it. The point was made, and understood by both of us. :)

Have a nice day
Freddie

Thanks Freddie, I appreciate it. I learned a lesson here which is a good thing. No matter how old I am rules need to be followed, they are put in force for good reason. Thanks! Steve.

It's tough being Moderator SkiWhiz, I do on another forum and most don't see what kind of pm's we get. Try and be nice about pointing out the rules and have folks insist there right and have never read the rules. Very common thing to have others point out what other members are doing, that guy sold this, that guy sold that. To not respond would not be dealing with the issue.

Things will work out good luck. Dan
