For Sale- Sovereign Hip/Chest Mount Bag (Black Version), Or Trade For Plano Waterproof Box

I long ago built a light weight land shaft for my GT so no need for the chest/hip mount bag. I have used this bag on my water rig (stock shaft) to chest mount the GT when water hunting, but plan to move on to a waterproof Plano box to throw my GT into mounted on a snap on back shaft extension to keep it from floating/dragging in the water with the ability to go deeper than I can comfortably with the control box chest mounted in the bag.

The Plano Boxes new go for around $20. This black version of the Minelab chest/hipmount bag I have seen go used for around $30 or so, so I'm either willing to sell it for $30 shipped or will trade it for a Plano box in good working condition as an even trade. I don't need the clamshell connectors if they haven't been installed on the Plano box.

The box I'm looking for is a certain size I've seen a few use for their Sovereign to throw into while water hunting. Off hand I don't know the model # but actually there are two that I've seen people use and either one should work equally well. If somebody PMs me a Plano box to trade give me the model # and I'll look it up to see which it is, or would prefer a pic to judge shape/conditon.

The above picture of the black Minelab bag is not the actual picture of mine. If we work a deal in a PM then I'll send you a few pics before finalizing the trade. The bag is in good shape but I don't think the clear plastic on it looks nearly as clear as the pic below. This bag was never used around salt water.

If a deal is made for cash, postal money order only. Shoot me a PM to finalize. PS- Will be holding out a few days on this deal to see if any offers to trade a Plano box come in first. If they don't then I'll do the cash deal to whoever first offered $30 for the bag and living in US only.

Critter I think the box you are looking for is the model 1460-00. That is the one that I have seen listed as what guys were using to waterproof their Sovereign. You can find pictures online.

There's actually two different size Plano Boxes people seem to be using. One by Kbron2000 (might have the spelling wrong) with videos and such, which seems longer and a bit bigger than the other more square Plano box I seen a couple guys using to house their Sovereign. Not sure yet which I want, but if either comes in a trade then I'll take it. Otherwise I'll pin down their dimensions and buy either that I prefer more.

I don't plan to clam shell the coil or headphone cables. Since I prefer the 12x10 on land over the stock 10" Tornado in all respects, the 10" Tornado stays on the stock shaft as my water rig, so no need to be able to quickly remove the coil cable. I just plan to Shoe Good the hole I route the cable through for it and a pair of headphones I commit to the project. Plan to also route a waterproof PP switch into it to plug into my remote PP jack I rigged up for my GT. On my light weight land rig I have one routed through the shaft and up inside the bike end bar grip, which hands down as a trigger just like on my prior Whites detectors. I'm really starting to like to hunt in PP when targets are scarce as it's got PI-like depth and even better ability to cut through minerals than the legendary abilities of BBS disc to do that.

The Shoe Goo will be fine to waterproof the cable entry points, but just the same the box is getting mounted on a snap on back shaft extension I made for the stock shaft, so it'll be at head height when hunting and thus out of the water with no risk of leaks even when neck deep. I'm doing this not only to prevent a potential leak, but also to avoid float or drag of the Plano box in a duffle bag, and besides I don't like chest/hip mounting a control box. I saw Kbron2000's one video and he just lets the box float in the water on calm lakes. Nice idea, but with any kind of waves on any given day that would be a bad move I think. With it floating though like that, since the lid is on top, he's not really risking a leak.

Beauty of these BBS units is the extra long coil cables the stock and aftermarket coils have. These machines are truly meant to be amphibious for that reason, besides for those who like to hip or chest mount on land.

Thanks for all the input...

Look this over Critter 1460 box

NICE Work! Yea, that's the more square box I have seen that I think I'll probably go with. The one Kbron2000 is using is I think longer. Don't want to use a bigger box than I have to to house my GT. Mine is going to be mounted on a snap on back shaft extension to keep it at head height when hunting so no worries of leaks, drags, or float. I already mocked up my GT this way inside a plastic bag and water hunted. Balance was fine but I still didn't feel safe going any deeper than I do with the GT chest mounted.

Some guys stick a little battery operated moisture detector meant for going under sinks or water heaters in the box to sound an alarm if it senses moisture, but since mine is going to be even a few inches out of the water even when I'm neck deep, I'm not going to worry about using one. The foam to keep the GT from moving around in there is also something I plan to do.

Probably not going to use clamshells. Too pricey, and besides I don't need to quickly be able to remove my coil, since the stock 10" Tornado stays on the stock shaft as my water rig, and I only use the 12x10 and other coils on my light weight land shaft build. So I'm just going to use Shoe Goo to seal the coil and headphone cables going into the box, and also to seal the cord for a waterproof remote PP switch to plug into the GT inside the box like I have on my land rig.

You should post those pics and details in the modifications forum under that huge thread I posted with a bunch of links to waterproofing Sovereigns various ways. You did an excellent job there and it shouldn't be hidden in the classifieds forum.
