I was hunting a spot that was in my wifes family for over 100 years. They claimed that Sherman stayed there on the way to Aventsboro. I found where 4 Terry Rangers from Texas, was injured in the tiny (no stop light) town just before some of Shermans troops hit Fayettville (about 25 miles away) So the story is very possibly true. I haven't found much in the old plowed fields (not anything other than rusted junk), but I did find what looks like a small ladle. It is brass or copper (hammered copper I think) The handle is broken off. It is 1.5" wide and about 2" long from tip to where the handle is broken off. It is smooth on the bottom and rough on the inside. It has a green color like copper when it is old. It was a few inches down in the dirt. Could this be a bullet ladle? Is it possible that it was from the indians? Any guesses or ideas?? Maybe new junk??
