? for people who wear drysuit....

spdnj

New member
What do you guys wear under them. I know it will vary with the temperature but I am very close to purchasing one and the company I am looking at is trying to sell me an undergarment for it and they are expensive. $175 and $350 depending on the thickness.
They seem expensive for what they are, they look like a 1 piece pajama fleece (its not fleece though)
Any feedback from anyone
Thanks

Hello spdnj,

Yes, I have a drysuit, although I have not had to use it in about 2 seasons, due to mild temperatures. I have the NRS Kokatat drysuit and I DO use the recommended union suit, as well. Just helps to keep you warm in there, but you could just wear long handles or thermals of some kind, OR street clothes, for that matter. The price they are asking for that union suit is OUTRAGEOUS though, so their drysuits may be kinda high too, be sure to check out NRS and OBTW, mine is for sale, $300 for the drysuit AND union suit, how bout that? Here are some pics, it is STILL in about the same shape.

we used them while i was in the coast guard its fleece and just the ticket,we used ours under the dry suit to keep warm during ice rescues(yes we went swimming as the ice breaks under you)
and works great i even used it as long underwear in the winter here in michigan there worth the price but look around as you might find one cheaper then 175.00

I've worn poly-pro long johns, sweats and levi's....couldn't afford the expensive store boughts...

I used to do lots of hunting in the woods for lost folks. Proper clothing was a skill that had to be learned. Polypro was and is still one of the better kinds of undergarment until the advent of Smart Wool. Wool retains it capability to keep you warm even if soaking wet. But it itches!! Not any more. Manufacturers have found a way to shave the sticky-itchy fibers off the wool before it is woven into the garment. It's as soft as a nice cotton t-shirt but is 100% wool. It's a bit expensive, but not like the garment made specifically for a dry suit, and you can get it reasonably if you do some on-line shopping. Unless it's really cold water I plan to use wool undies underneath and double thick polar fleece on top. It's an alternative that allows adding or removing layers to get the body temperature just right for the type of water you are in. Jim

VuDuLou is Googling "Smart Wool" as you read this.....

Cheers,

Lou

I wore my long johns....

I have several different undergarments for all water temps..
the best thing is Polartec Fleece .it wicks moisture away from your body and keeps you warm.
you can buy it everywhere..or just use sweat pants and shirt
