Of course I know that everybody will look at this :twodetecting:

When you bring home jewelry, gold or silver or whatever, does you wife, partner, significant other, let you keep it? Or does she/he wants to try it on and if it fits, well, you know where it ends up. Yup, in the jewelry box.

It's all in my jewelry box and two of the rings are on my fingers. I do all the work, so it's mine!!!

Mine has latched onto a couple pieces over the year's, but over all has little interest. But, it appears that may be another story as my 12 year old granddaughter is beginning to show a pretty serious in my jewelry finds. For the most part, though, I sell it and it pays for my hobby.....if I don't travel to far. HH jim tn

Does she let me keep it? lol... she can have my silver but if she wants gold she can get a detector and find it herself ;)

I let my wife and daughter each choose one at the end of the season and then I sell the rest.

I am on-board with "If the wife is Happy, then I am happy", along with my daughter. My wife is the one that told me to buy the Excalibur, since I was bringing stuff home with the Explorer SE.

Hi Gang,

My wife has worn the first and I believe the most beautiful wedding band I ever found, for over 25 years. She seems to prefer it to the one I gave her on our wedding day over 40 years ago!!

Various other family members are sporting others I found.

I'm happy they're happy!!!

Regards,

Cupajo

Most of my detecting took place during the 80's in the water in Hawaii. It was a very good time to own a metal detector. I was an active duty Ssgt in the USMC married with 6 kids. I needed to find a way to make money and still be available to deploy at any moment. We sent the two youngest to private school and feed all of them every day. That's a lot of gold to do all that and very little stayed in the house. We would have been on welfare had it not been for the metal detecting. I wouldn't trade my time metal detecting for a lot of other activities. I also wish more of the rings fit the wife's finger. Best to all, Mike

OK, lemme break it down fer ye! The wife, will most always covet cher loot, because they REALLY like the bling bettern most, savvy? I am not particularly fond of giving up my loot though, so here is how it works around here. I bought Gulf Huntress an Excal 800. OBTW, I forgot to tell you I married another pirate! That of course is key to you holding onto what you find, instead of getting looted by your wife, LOL! That woman is VERY dangerous with an Excal, matter of fact she has schooled me the last 2 hunts with her, LOL! If she fancies a piece of my loot, she will trade for a piece of hers. I had found a nice 10K diamond cluster ring and she liked it, but she had found a nice men's 10K ring, w/diamond and we traded. I DID give her a 14K nugget cross, w/diamond on a fine chain, for a Mother's Day present one year though. I do like to keep momma happy too! Then, I found another gold diamond cluster ring and she liked that one too and traded me a gold nugget ring for it. See, it all works out just fine that way, I like it! That is the only way you are going to win, otherwise prepare for the worst.

Having just read all these threads I thought I would add my little bit !
I must agree that most of the pretty bling gets " adopted " by one of my " 3 Degrees " until something else sparkles in my scoop and I then get the ( TRADE IN ) ! !
But I must admit when I arrived home with a MASSIVE 14k chain around my neck about 2 years ago , i was promptly MUGGED by my Mrs who then said that she felt bad taking it. So she offered to buy me a new yellow headphoned Excalibur in return !

Every ones happy now !!
