For lucky ones...can someone do me a favor...

Everyone was very impressed with the 800 finding the chain. The detector appeared to give off a high tone and a reading of 1-2.

Can someone do a test with a thin gold chain and a small piece of iron, ie... fish hook, thin nail, piece of wire, bobby pin. What Im trying to discern is will the small iron give me the same tone as the gold chain and #2 Will I have to dig a 1,000 pieces of small iron to find 1 small gold chain. Dry sand test would be fine.

Thanks in advance,
Donna

Donna, re the beach I think of it this way. I dig a 1,000 pices of crap-iron with any of my PI's and still don't hit small gold chains (silver ones yes). With my Excalibur I don't dig the iron but small gold chains not at all. So the EQ is promising in wet salt and I understand it will ignore iron and hit thin gold...(?) right? In dry sand I have a few detectors that will find the thinnest gold chains and micro jewelry but they are suitable for water detecting. Tradeoffs exist but the EQ looks to fill a niche for me. It'll be quite a while before I can try it out myself.

Maybe I will have one persons answer this afternoon, as I am heading to Galveston in a few minutes to a big seeded hunt. I will bury small gold pickers, flakes, and chains of various thickness in small zip lock bags and test, I have a feeling it will hit on the small chins, even length wise, but I also feel it will have to be really shallow. And, there is always iron flakes in the sand there. I really dont do videos but if there is a gopro operator there and I can get them to video it I will.

Ive found a few BIG Honkin chains with my Sovereign. However, the signals were very broken and erratic. My beaches are heavily fished and there's lots of small iron. Never used a Pi as I was told I could dig FEET for a small piece of iron. Waiting patiently....

Thanks,
Donna
