For Fisher service...

My CZ-6a hasn't been ground balancing properly with the "Pushbutton" method . Most times I get to hear the audio tune but other times nothing(at the same spot with no metal around. Also I heard things banging around inside control box. When I carefully opened control box a 3/4" circuit board screw and a small piece of plasic with a tiny screw fell out. I screwed back the 3/4" screw but can't find where the other piece goes. Do I need to send unit back to Fisher in California for service or is there a more local service center? Thanks to all...

Personally, IF I wanted it serviced, I would send it back to the factory. I don't want to be spending hours walking around out there with a machine that is not at it's best. I'd feel like I was wasting my time and passing things over.
Call the factory (209-826-3292) and ask for Jerry Hatcher. He's their lead tech on CZs. Ask him the questions you're asking here. They're real nice people. You'll either talk to him or another CZ tech. I sent my 3D back for service because I thought I wasn't getting the depth I should. They tested it and told me I had one of the hottest 3Ds they had seen. I felt silly for having sent it back but I feel confident out there detecting with it knowing what I was told.
Good Luck,
Dave

Having a positive attitude knowing your unit is up to par equals better finds. Confidence plays a large part. Fisher service is excellent whether just asking a question or repairing a unit. Indeed a part falling out tells me its time for service..

Guess I'll give Fisher a buzz and see what they can do. Have to be more careful buying used.
